Quarterly reports: sheriff staffing gains and animal-control patrols discussed

He said dog-bag stations should be kept stocked and noted a fenced dog park is planned to help reduce off-leash issues.

Lt. Endsley said pay adjustments that took effect in January helped recruitment and retention, reporting nine hires this year and stating that final budget adjustments yield a net gain of six officers. He said the department had experienced a staffing crisis beginning in 2023 and that contract staffing for cities has not kept up with population growth; the goal of increasing staffing is to match service demand and allow more proactive enforcement.
