City zoning report: permit counts steady; staff to follow up on noncompliant signs at Pizza Hut and Burger King

The subdivision and zoning administrator reported that 19 permits were issued in November and 13 in December, including four residential permits (two in Natalie Estates, one in Legacy and one in Eagle Ridge) and roughly 16 accessory permits covering egress windows, finished basements, patios, pools and electrical work.
S9 said three sign permits were issued, including a permit for a new parish center downtown and others. He told the council that Pizza Hut had installed a new sign insert that did not match the approved permit configuration (appearing lower to the ground and not as a monument sign) and that certified letters had been sent to Burger King and Pizza Hut in November or December asking them to address sign noncompliance.
Staff said Burger King and Pizza Hut were contacted and that code enforcement will follow up to determine whether the businesses replaced only panels (which can be allowed) or modified the sign such that the height or structure now violates the code, in which case the signs would need to be lowered or otherwise brought into compliance.
Other development updates included Turning Point Wellness Center moving to an existing building and permits for interior updates, a demo permit for a downtown building and ongoing reviews for Remington Ridge and Deer Ridge developments.
