Building Standards Board elects Dwayne Nelson chair and Kayla Miranda vice chair

Dwayne Nelson was re-elected chair of the San Antonio Building Standards Board by a roll-call vote of 10 to 2. The nomination was made from the floor by George Grimes Jr. and seconded by Anne Weiner; Fred Andes was also nominated and accepted the nomination before the vote.
The vote followed standard roll-call procedures. Members who voted for Nelson included Anne Weiner, Raulette Schreckengost, Robert Behnke, Dwayne Nelson, Doctor Linda Lopez Rodriguez, Kayla Miranda, Joel Solis, George Grimes Jr., Yvonne Addison and others; two members opposed. After the vote Nelson thanked colleagues for their confidence.
Nominations for vice chair produced a closer result. Kayla Miranda and Fred Andes were nominated; Miranda was elected vice chair in a roll-call tally recorded as 7 in favor and 5 opposed. The board called the roll for the vice-chair vote separately and announced the outcome on the record.
Both elections took place at the beginning of the meeting. The board proceeded to scheduled staff briefings on the vacant building program, historic design review and other items after confirming its leadership for the coming year.
