Trustee James (Mike) Blaies, chair of the Electric Committee, reported at the June 11 committee meeting and summarized the discussion for the board on June 16.
The Park District is considering replacing ballfield lighting under an Illinois Municipal Electric Agency (IMEA) energy-efficiency program. Village Administrator Matt Trout said the Park District asked whether the village would be willing to allocate some grant proceeds to the village for its lighting project; the board decided to wait until Public Works Director John Tolan could attend and provide input before making any decision.
On staffing, Trout said the lineman position(s) were posted in the Freeburg Tribune and on Indeed; the posting closed on a Friday with 49 applicants, and staff identified roughly 15–18 solid candidates for next-stage review.
No formal motions or commitments of village funds were recorded in the minutes; trustees deferred decisions pending Public Works input.
