Council approves special-use permits for two short-term rentals and a historic-district awning

At its Feb. 11 meeting, the Lebanon City Council approved committee recommendations to permit short-term rental operations at two downtown addresses and to issue a certificate of appropriateness for an awning in the C-2 historic district.
The council considered a committee resolution finding facts in support of a special-use permit for Dave and Charity Braden to operate a short-term rental at 209 West Main, then approved an ordinance to authorize the special use. A similar committee recommendation and ordinances were approved for a short-term rental application by Penny Mueller at 424 West Main.
The council also approved a planning recommendation that a certificate of appropriateness be issued to allow an awning at 210 West Saint Louis Street in the C-2 historic Sharpie District.
Committee members and councilors noted that plan commission hearings and 250-foot notification letters give neighbors an opportunity to comment before action at the council level. No further discussion was requested and the council approved the items on roll call.
