A presenter from the Land Use committee explained Barbara Mikkel’s request, noting a proposed road on the general plan that crosses the property and that the owner intends to work around it.
"Barbara Mikkel would like to rezone her property that's east of her Fifty's... she wants to rezone it R 18000 so that she can sell smaller lots and allow people to purchase lots with less cost," the presenter said. The council held that the planning and zoning committee had held a public hearing and recommended sending the item to the council; a council member moved to approve the rezoning, the motion was seconded and the vote passed.
The Land Use committee also reported approving multiple home-occupation business licenses and said it will take up short-term vacation rental regulations in commercial zones at a future meeting. No specific amendments to the rezoning were recorded in the minutes.
