The Marion City Council approved a set of redevelopment and routine municipal items in a series of roll-call votes, including three redevelopment agreements under the city's Tax Increment Financing (TIF) program and FY26 TIF grant applications.
Mayor Absher introduced redevelopment ordinances for Aspire Estates at 404 E. Jackson (Ordinance 4066) and 406 E. Jackson (Ordinance 4067) and a redevelopment agreement with JM Vision LLC at 112 E. Jefferson (Ordinance 4068). Planning staff said the Aspire Estates projects are purchases and rehabs intended to provide rental housing; JM Vision previously demolished a multifamily structure at Jefferson and Madison and plans an office building when a tenant is secured. Council approved each ordinance by unanimous roll call.
The council also approved a resolution to authorize the sale of surplus city property (a Ford F-150 from the water department) and passed a motion to purchase a 2024 Ford F-550 cab/chassis from Jim Hayes Inc. for $64,974 to replace a damaged dump truck, with the current dump bed and snowplow to be transferred to the new chassis.
Council approved the FY26 TIF grant applications presented to the council, which staff said included two hub-TIF applications and one residential TIF application received through Oct. 9, 2025.
