Novato honors two long‑time volunteers at council meeting

Mayor invited Goldfinger forward and read a proclamation noting her decades of volunteer work with groups including the Novato Chamber of Commerce, the Fourth of July parade committee, the Novato Historical Guild, Rotary and North Marin Community Services. Goldfinger thanked her nominators and longtime collaborators and said, "I guess I love what I do," adding that her work keeps her "off the streets." Representatives of Paint the Town Red announced a $2,000 donation to the Parks and Recreation youth scholarship fund and a $1,000 donation to the nonprofit of Goldfinger’s choice.
Mayor Pro Tem Jacobs presented a proclamation recognizing Marcia Basella’s leadership on monthly community cleanup events, her years on the Novato Streetscape Committee and stewardship of a wildlife habitat garden. Basella acknowledged mentors and volunteers and encouraged others to volunteer.
The ceremonial item concluded before the council moved into regular business.
