Summary
Advisers said work on the Black Heritage Trail has progressed since January; sample signs and informational booths will appear during Patriot’s Day events and the group aims to finish permitting by June with installations over the summer and fall.
Advisers to Concord’s Black Heritage Trail project reported steady progress and said sample signage and public feedback opportunities will appear during Patriot’s Day events in April.
Commission member Joe said a small advisory team has met with the historic commission and other local groups and will place temporary sample signage and information booths during the Patriot’s Day parade and post‑parade activities to collect community feedback. He said the project’s grant timeline aims for permitting and processing to be complete by June so permanent installations can be placed over the summer and fall.
The advisory team will seek preliminary approval from the Select Board on April 13 and asked commissioners to consider offering support when that item is before the board. Temporary signage will be used in April to show residents an example of the planned materials and solicit reactions before finalizing designs.
No formal vote was taken; the update was informational and the advisory team will return with permitting updates next month.
