Council supports Boofest, will ask scouts to tidy basement and declines green‑waste dumpsters

Several community items were discussed during the meeting. Resident Chaiya Wimber asked to organize Boofest in October and the council expressed support and a plan to involve youth ambassadors. Regarding building use, Councilmember Chris Milbank raised concerns about a second scout group's repeated messy use of the basement; the council decided Recorder Sheila Lind will send a letter asking the scout groups to clean up after themselves and Milbank will review the letter before it is sent rather than immediately imposing a fee.
Public Works Director Clayten Nelson summarized past green‑waste dumpsters procured by the city in spring and fall 2025 and said one resident filled a dumpster entirely in the fall, resulting in a $400 dumping charge; he reported non‑residents also used the dumpsters. For those reasons the council agreed not to provide green‑waste dumpsters this season.
On parks, the council discussed pickleball fundraising support (no city commitment to build or maintain courts was made) and noted resurfacing needs on existing courts; the council agreed to support fundraising efforts and to revisit location and maintenance responsibilities in the future.
