The Modoc County Board of Supervisors authorized submission and acceptance of Federal Aviation Administration Airport Improvement Program (AIP) grant applications and Caltrans matching grants for Cedarville and Tule Lake airports.
Roads staff said Cedarville's project is focused on runway joint and crack sealing and that construction bids are out; the county will use actual construction bids to apply for the construction grant and staff expects award and possible construction next spring. "By the time we get this grant awarded, it will be late summer," the road representative said, explaining the AIP process.
For Tule Lake Airport staff said the scope allows additional work beyond the main runway, including taxiway and apron repairs and a slurry seal. The board approved both resolutions by voice vote.
No project-specific contract awards were made at the meeting; staff will return with construction bids, final grant applications and timelines when available.
