Modoc County accepts $200,000 Clean California grant to fund community cleanup coordinators

The Modoc County Board of Supervisors on March 24 approved a resolution to accept a Clean California Local Grant expected to provide up to $200,000 for community cleanup and employment-pathway activities.
Roads staff told the board the grant will fund outreach and hiring of part-time community cleanup coordinator(s) who will work with county agencies, community organizations and volunteers on litter abatement, abandoned vehicle removal, park beautification and active-transportation outreach.
Staff said the program is intended to supplement existing code-enforcement and Adopt-a-County-Road efforts and would include program documents, memoranda of understanding and volunteer expectations. The resolution authorizes the road commissioner or designee to sign and approve grant-related items.
The grant term described in staff materials runs from April 1, 2026, to Nov. 1, 2027, and staff noted a possible local match figure in supplemental materials; the board approved the resolution by voice vote and directed staff to coordinate district input and existing committees prior to hiring or program rollout.
