The Mariposa County Planning Commission adopted a resolution honoring Mick Herman for his service as District 3 planning commissioner from January 2003 through December 31, 2025.
Chair Art Baggett read the resolution, which detailed Herman’s work on a range of land‑use and policy matters, including general plan reports, zoning amendments, complex land divisions and notable local projects. Carol Suggs, administrative analyst for the planning department, read excerpts from the Board of Supervisors’ proclamation and recalled Herman’s thorough review of materials and collaborative approach. “He was always very thorough with his questions. He read his packet,” Suggs said.
Members of the public, including Russ Marks, described Herman as a positive force who helped push projects forward despite staffing and budget challenges. The commission moved to adopt the resolution, a motion was seconded, and the vote carried unanimously.
The commission posed for a photograph and expressed appreciation for Herman’s service across multiple terms and in leadership roles on the commission.
