Planning Commission sends bylaws revisions to council, schedules ADU review for May

The Sunset Planning Commission voted unanimously April 9 to forward updated commission bylaws to the City Council for approval.
Members reviewed edits including a corrected meeting schedule (third Thursday each month at 6:30 p.m.) and removal of a standing gifts/longevity provision. A motion to send the bylaws to council was made and seconded, and the commission recorded a unanimous vote.
During general updates, commissioners reported completion of required training sessions and staff reminded members to document hours so the city secretary could record them. Staff also reported no current plan submissions for the Sunset Square property but noted the property owner had acquired parcels and indicated plans to return with development proposals.
Chair also summarized impending state-driven changes to detached accessory dwelling units (ADUs) and recommended placing ADU code amendments on the May agenda so the city can create a local compliance pathway. Commissioners agreed to add ADU discussion to the May meeting.
