Summary
The chair updated the CVRI on a $200,000 Main Street program (public and private work), heritage-area and Eccles Foundation grants for Mossack Block repairs and a Veterans Memorial, a trail connector due May 24, and a paid invoice tied to a 5‑acre arena project.
The CVRI chair provided a progress report on several redevelopment and infrastructure projects, including a $200,000 package for work on Main Street that combines public- and private-sector investments.
On the private side of Main Street, the chair said the triangle apartments have had tenant turnover and that unit 5 is now occupied; unit 6 requires work before it can be re-rented and unit 9 was noted as a prospect. The chair credited department staff with managing rentals and said the RDA is continuing repairs and tenant relocations as needed.
The chair said the heritage area awarded an $8,600 grant to the RDA to clean and to install a new heating and air-conditioning system in a ground-floor unit of the Mossack (Wasatch) Block, and that work is underway on rear units C and D (one of which is an accessible unit). The RDA also provided an additional $20,000 to "Harry Jr." for east-side repairs to the block.
The RDA obtained a $30,000 grant from the Eccles Foundation for the Veterans Memorial, the chair said, and the heritage area matched that amount. The RDA paid $5,800 to Sunrise Engineering for the site plan. "We obtained a $30,000 grant from the Eccles Foundation," the chair said.
The chair said the connector trail has funding and is expected to be finished on May 24. He also reported the RDA paid $48,000 to White Peak Ranch for a container invoice related to the 5-acre arena project; once completed, the chair said, the board could consider raising additional funds to move the rodeo in 2027 or 2028.
Separately, members discussed recruiting volunteers to help with a concrete pour; one speaker noted project lead Rich is seeking volunteers who know how to work with cement and that Chris Perry's crew might be recruited to assist.
The chair concluded that staff will continue advancing these projects and that he will provide another update next month.
