Oregon School District board approves agenda and consent calendar; authorizes $822,256.35 in payments, accepts retirements and donations

The School Board of the Oregon School District voted unanimously on Feb. 10 to approve the meeting agenda and a consent calendar that authorized $822,256.35 in payments and accepted multiple personnel changes and donations.
Board member Heather Garrison moved to approve the agenda; Leslie Wright seconded the motion and it passed by unanimous voice vote. Later in the meeting Garrison moved to approve the Consent Calendar, which included the payments, acceptance of staff resignations and retirements, approval of a Go Global course field trip to Japan (March 28–April 6, 2025), and acceptance of numerous donations. Troy Pankratz seconded the motion; in a roll call the six present board members voted yes (Garrison, Pankratz, Ahna Bizjak, Caleb Bush, Leslie Wright and Krista Flanagan).
The Consent Calendar recorded several retirements effective June 13, 2025: Kathryn Ruhde (1.0 FTE, 3rd grade teacher, NKE), Lori Klein (1.0 FTE, 3rd grade teacher, NKE), Laura Cray (1.0 FTE, Academic Success Center, OHS) and Kay Black (1.0 FTE, orchestra teacher, OMS). It also listed a resignation: Laura Bero (1.0 FTE, Special Education Teacher, OHS), effective Feb. 20, 2025.
Donations accepted by the district ranged from modest individual gifts to larger contributions. Noted entries in the minutes include John & Susan Faust ($10,795), Tim & Sue LeBrun ($5,000), Norman & Susan Richards ($5,000), Phillip J. Mitchell ($5,000), Culver’s of Oregon ($5,000) and Telaid ($2,000). The minutes also record dozens of smaller gifts designated for programs such as the Oregon Area Splash Pad, band programs, scholarships, field trips and food service for students in need.
The board president, Krista Flanagan, thanked donors and congratulated staff who are retiring. The minutes do not record substantive debate on the Consent Calendar items. Supporting documents, including the Superintendent’s Report and detailed listings of donations and payments, are posted on the district website.
The board recessed at 7:02 p.m. and moved into a work session on the five-year budget forecast.
