The public works committee approved a contract with Bolton & Menk to provide design and construction-administration services for the 2505 Southeast Brainerd reconstruction project.
Engineer Jesse Dean recommended executing a contract with Bolton & Menk for construction administration and design next year's reconstruction project; the packet lists the award amount as $430,186. Dean said the recommendation aligns with the Board of Public Utilities (BPU), which is funding lead service-line replacement work for the same corridor and had approved its portion of the work; staff recommended keeping the same design firm involved to coordinate the reconstruction and the BPU lead-service-line project.
Director Sandy confirmed BPU's approval of the related lead-service-line work, and the committee then voted to approve the contract. The motion carried.
With the contract approved, Bolton & Menk will proceed with design and construction administration; staff said the firm can answer additional questions as the project proceeds and that the city and BPU will coordinate on the lead-service-line portion.
