Freeburg pool committee OKs donation, plans lifeguard recruitment and reservation changes

Freeburg, Ill. — The village’s Public Property Committee reported several pool-related items to trustees on Jan. 21: a donation for a church auction, lifeguard hiring plans and a temporary change to reservation priority.
Trustee Ramon Matchett Jr. said the committee agreed to donate a 10-visit pool pass to St. John’s auction and that staff will advertise for lifeguard applicants if the board approves. Village Administrator Matt Trout said the village will give Freeburg residents the month of April to reserve pool parties before opening reservations to others; staff will review the current reservation list with municipal staff.
What happens next: Staff will place lifeguard advertisements and finalize donation logistics; the reservation-priority change will be implemented for the April reservation period.
