Mayor Seth Speiser presented a resignation from Mark White from the Combined Planning & Zoning Board; Trustee Elizabeth (Lisa) Meehling moved to accept the resignation, and the motion carried unanimously. Mayor Speiser then nominated Dale Lickenbrock to fill the vacancy; Trustee Dana Miller moved to confirm the appointment and the board approved it by roll call (6 ayes, 0 nays, 0 absent).
Trustee James (Mike) Blaies moved that employee Mary Downen be removed from probation and Trustee Elizabeth (Lisa) Meehling seconded. The board approved the recommendation by roll call (6 ayes, 0 nays, 0 absent).
In a separate vote on a capital purchase, Trustee Blaies moved to purchase reconditioned transformers (after including scrap) “not to exceed $20,000”; Trustee Tom Carpenter seconded and the motion carried by roll call (6 ayes, 0 nays, 0 absent). Electric staff reported there were 27 transformers that had failed historically: seven will be repaired, 17 scrapped and four reconditioned units purchased under the approved authorization.
Earlier in the meeting the board also approved the minutes from its Jan. 6 meeting.
What happens next: The newly appointed planning-board member will take the seat on the Combined Planning & Zoning Board. The transformer purchases will proceed under village procurement procedures and within the approved $20,000 authorization; staff and committees will report back to the board as purchases and personnel actions are finalized.
