A supervisor noted the contract was being approved in advance of the fiscal year and asked whether that allowed the county to schedule training early; staff said the July‑to‑June contract dates are sometimes backdated to July 1 to allow coverage for costs incurred earlier in the fiscal year.
Separately supervisors reviewed an MOU governing use and maintenance of county equipment (an excavator purchased with grant funds). The MOU’s first paragraph listed 2025 in the draft; staff confirmed the document was corrected to reflect 2026 prior to execution. Board members asked how negligence or damage would be determined and were told mutual agreement and case‑by‑case evaluation would apply; the MOU allows county signature to finalize arrangements.
The board moved, seconded and approved the audit contract, the UC Davis training agreement and the MOU by voice votes.
