Calhoun County awards five-year auditing contract to Rehmann Robson for $209,000

The Calhoun County Board of Commissioners voted on Nov. 6 to award a five-year contract to Rehmann Robson to provide auditing services for fiscal years 2008 through 2012 for a total contract price of $209,000 (Res.175-2008).
Interim County Administrator Don Gilmer recommended the award and said Rehmann Robson previously provided the county’s audits. Finance Director Mark Stuhldreher said the firm has served the county for more than 10 years and that staff auditors are routinely rotated to provide a fresh perspective. Commissioners asked whether the $209,000 covered both the county and the Road Commission; Stuhldreher said the $209,000 was county-only and that the Road Commission had been included in an earlier joint proposal that produced savings. Assistant County Administrator Bradley Wilcox said the budgeted amount for the 2008 audit was $42,500 and that the bid for the 2008 audit was $40,000.
Comr. Solis moved and Comr. Bolger seconded the motion; the contract award passed by recorded vote with one commissioner temporarily excused.
