Finance director reports steady revenues; board approves budget amendments and E-911 maintenance funding

The finance director presented the monthly financial report: current-year tax collections totaled about $24.6 million (reported as ~91.7% of the levy) with property-tax revenues up 7.9% from last year (approximately $2.1 million). Enterprise and solid-waste funds showed positive balances and operating cash was reported at about $11.3 million; the county's investment account with the North Carolina Capital Management Trust was reported at $30.69 million.

Staff also presented three budget amendments: #9 (reclassify an interest payment for the Phase 6 water bond into the Phase 6 project fund), #10 (various receipts and program adjustments including a $1,000 recreation donation, $11,066 insurance recoveries, a $3,000 increase for a juvenile program, $10,000 recreation grant and additional health program funds totaling $26,252), and #11 (increase E-911 restricted fund by $86,650 to cover a maintenance agreement with Motorola that had not been previously initiated). Commissioners moved to approve amendments 9, 10 and 11 and carried the motion.

Staff said the school debt payment scheduled for the year was the last payment on that obligation and that April billings would help refine revenue projections for the remainder of the fiscal year.
