Presenter comments noted an annual component previously in the mid‑$21,000 range; staff asked the board to authorize renewal of SmartWorks technical managed services and associated modules in the amount of $40,715.83. "That is expected to increase 3% every year," a staff presenter said during the discussion.
Board members asked questions about compatibility, past procurement and whether the pricing had been competitively bid; staff responded that SmartWorks is the MDM integrated with the existing Core & Main‑supplied system and validates meter reads. "We’ve been using this for a couple years now," a presenter said, describing automated move‑in/move‑out and reconnect capability that can restore service the same day when payment is received.
A motion to authorize staff to enter the renewal contract with Harris Computer Systems passed on a roll call. The board did not adopt additional conditions at the meeting but flagged monitoring future price movement and asked staff to provide additional procurement context in subsequent briefings.
