Across meetings on Nov. 6 and Nov. 12 the Jay County Commissioners handled routine administrative business and approved several contracts and claims.
On Nov. 6 the board approved a county credit card for Stacey Johnson, the retirement center director, and removed former director Melissa Blankley from bank accounts. The payroll docket and county home report for October were approved and a claim related to the sheriff's department IT work was authorized.
On Nov. 12, commissioners approved a 2025 agreement with Purdue Extension for $127,510 and authorized advertising three tillable farm leases together (excluding a barn) covering 293.8 acres; they also voted to advertise a separate 68‑acre parcel for a one‑year term. Bruce Sutton's repair plan for water damage in the Recorder and Prosecutor offices was approved with a down payment to Hays & Sons of $10,360.12 to initiate work. The board also approved moving forward with obtaining an IN.gov website (the state site is free but lacks built‑in livestreaming, so the auditor recommended keeping both sites for now).
Other approvals recorded in the minutes included a county credit card for clerk‑elect Melissa Elliott, a $1,580.50 claim to The Restore Store for IT work, and a $107 lodging claim for recorder training (within required mileage rules). The minutes note an upcoming pre‑bid meeting for owner‑occupied rehab homes on Nov. 19 and a bid opening scheduled Nov. 27 for those projects.
