For the 293.8 acres at the Jay County Retirement Center, four bids were opened: Hartzell Farms ($206/acre), Schoenlein Brothers ($376/acre), Dues and Sons ($285/acre), and Kenny Hemmelgarn ($275/acre). Commissioners accepted Schoenlein Brothers' bid of $376 per acre (annual total $110,468) by unanimous vote.
For the 68‑acre parcel in section 18 on Portland’s west end, three bids were opened: Dues and Sons ($285/acre), Chris Muhlenkamp ($400/acre), and Schoenlein Brothers ($376/acre). Commissioners voted to table action on the 68‑acre bids pending further review.
