Leaders of the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Atlanta updated the Conyers City Council on services at the Barksdale Club and recent investments in local facilities.
Libby Sailor Wright, president and CEO, said the Metro Atlanta organization serves a membership of about 8,000 annually and that the Barksdale Club in Conyers serves approximately 500 youth with roughly 150 attending three or more times per week. Bobby Dunn, a senior regional director, and longtime local staffer Terry Walker Moore described programming that includes homework help, leadership development, healthy‑lifestyles programming and workforce‑readiness work.
Dunn said the club recently received a donated baseball diamond through a partnership with Major League Baseball and the national office, a contribution he described as a "half‑million dollar investment" in Conyers that included fencing, lighting and dugout improvements intended to broaden community use beyond club members.
Council members thanked the organization and noted opportunities to strengthen partnerships with youth services and workforce development programs. Club leaders said they welcome volunteers, donors and business partners to support expanded programming.
