The Highland Lake council on March 3 approved the Lady Lakers' calendar of community events for 2026 and authorized a youth fishing tournament and a town-donated prize.
Carl Randall moved and Bobby Rhodes seconded approval of the Lady Lakers' schedule, which includes a PALS cleanup on April 18, a Boston Butt fundraiser May 22–23, a community breakfast Aug. 22, a fall festival Oct. 18 and a community Christmas event Dec. 6. The motion passed on a unanimous roll-call vote.
The council also approved a youth fishing tournament for April 25, 2026, to follow the same rules as the prior year. Wesley Faulkner moved to approve the tournament; Ramzi Malek seconded, and the motion passed unanimously. Chief Scott Kon reminded organizers that a permit from marine police is required for events on the water.
Separately, the council approved donating a $450 nonresident lake-use pass as a tournament prize after a motion by Wesley Faulkner and second from Bobby Rhodes; the donation passed on a unanimous vote.
No additional conditions or permit deadlines were announced at the meeting.
