Florence council approves ordinance second reading, modifies solid-waste rates and handles administrative items

The Florence City Council at its Jan. 20, 2026 special meeting approved several routine and policy items, including an ordinance second reading and a modification to solid-waste rates.
The council approved the Jan. 13, 2026 meeting minutes. It then approved the second reading of Ordinance 2026-01, an amendment to Article 13.06 (Drought Response) adding wholesale contract provisions; the motion passed with 'none opposed.'
Separately, the council moved to modify Ordinance 10262023-1 concerning solid-waste disposal rates; that motion also carried with no recorded opposition. Council took no action on closing the Court Technology Fund bank account and took no action on a Patrol Officer vacancy recorded in the minutes.
Council voted to table discussion on hiring a part-time paid traffic enforcement officer (not to exceed 30 hours per week). The council also authorized city staff to find a replacement time-clock system for employee timekeeping.
The regular agenda closed at 6:25 p.m.; the meeting later reopened for executive sessions that led to personnel actions and legal conferences before adjournment at 10:41 p.m.
