An Ansmil representative told the Security Council that the ongoing conflict in Sudan is driving humanitarian and protection needs in Libya and that international support is needed for a regional response.
"The Sudan regional response plan, which also covers Libya, is intended to support approximately 597,000 Sudanese refugees and host communities in health, protection and food security with an estimated financial requirement of $115,500,000 for 2026," the representative said, and urged member states to support the effort.
He also said efforts continue to advance the return or reintegration of internally displaced populations as part of a broader durable-solutions agenda and called on member states to help meet immediate humanitarian requirements and capacity pressures facing Libya.
