City Manager Billy S. Wiggins presented the proposed holiday compensation plan for 2025, noting that funds were included in the 2025–2026 fiscal year budget. The package approved by council includes:
1) Thanksgiving — a turkey or ham for all full‑time and part‑time employees and the municipal court judge; and 2) Christmas — one week's salary for regular employees with more than one year of service and $100 for regular employees with less than one year of service.
Alderman Alan Cook moved and Alderman Elgin Davis seconded approval; all present voted aye. Council clarified that the expenditure had been budgeted for the fiscal year and no additional appropriations were required.
