Sullivan County opens sealed bids for four emergency watershed projects; Fairman Road to be advertised in May

Chief Clerk Hope Verelst opened the bid envelopes. The bid openings recorded the following apparent low bids at the time they were read aloud (no contract awards were announced at the meeting): Daren Thompson Excavating submitted the apparent low bid for SU-25-002 (Route 220) at $56,800; Kinsley Construction Environmental submitted the apparent low bid for SU-25-003 (Edkin Hill Road) at $45,525; Stonewood Landscaping submitted the apparent low bid for SU-25-004 (Champion Hill Road) at $75,000; and Cuz Excavating submitted the apparent low bid for SU-25-005 (Nordmont Road) at $60,600.
The commissioners noted that the Fairman Road emergency project will be advertised in May for a planned June bid opening. The meeting minutes record the bids as opened; procurement review, vetting of bids for responsiveness and any award decisions will occur according to county procurement procedures after the opening.
No public debate or award motions were recorded during the opening; the openings were procedural and will be followed by administrative review.
