The Glendale Town Board voted to implement Text My Gov for public notifications and emergency alerts, Mayor Chamberlain said at the March 19 meeting.
Lori Jensen, Glendale’s clerk, told the board the program had not actually been passed at the previous meeting and summarized how it will work: residents should text "Glendale alerts" to 91896 and reply YES to opt in; recipients can reply STOP to opt out. She said staff will continue using Facebook and paper flyers to reach residents as well.
Raliegh Franklin moved to implement the Text My Gov application, and Clint Porter seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
Jensen said the town had already distributed some messages and placed signup flyers at the post office. Board members encouraged residents to enroll to receive timely notices about town events and emergencies.
The board did not set a separate budget line at the meeting for the service; follow-up implementation details and any recurring costs will be recorded in future meeting minutes.
