The superintendent presented a memorandum of agreement June 12 to accept a state food‑truck grant of up to $125,000 to support district culinary and related programs.
The presenter said the grant is provided through the school building authority and would be no cost to the district. The food truck is expected to provide hands‑on learning opportunities for culinary students, special‑education programs and business/entrepreneurship classes; art students could contribute to the vehicle’s design as part of coursework. “This is a grant, not to exceed a $125,000, from the school building authority…and there is no cost to the district for this food's truck,” the presenter said.
The committee signed the memorandum and will take a formal vote at the next meeting after final paperwork is submitted to RIDE.
Next steps: finalize specifications, secure signatures, and submit the memorandum to RIDE for approval; if approved the district will receive and deploy the food truck for instructional use.
