Business services: March cash balance falls 2.7% but district maintains 5-star FESR

At the April 20 meeting, Mr. Adams presented the business services report, saying March’s closing cash balance reflected a 2.7% decrease from the prior month but that the district remains well positioned to meet its financial obligations.
Mr. Adams reported that the district paid 451 vendors a total of $1,400,000 in March. He said ad valorem tax collections were at 97.2% for the month, consistent with the prior month, and that year-to-date collections were at 86.6% while expenditures were at 73.8% against an expected 75% pace. He characterized those figures as on target and said staff will continue to monitor them toward year end.
Mr. Adams also highlighted that Oconee County Schools earned a 5-star Financial Efficiency Star Rating (FESR) for 2025, the only district in the state to receive that rating for the second year in a row. The rating, he said, compares district spending per pupil with academic performance and reflects per-pupil expenditure and college- and career-ready performance index scores.
Mr. Adams closed by noting the total-benefit statements for calendar year 2025 were emailed to district employees.
