Alicia Rice of the Assault Resource Center presented the Washington County SART biennial report covering Oct. 2023–Sept. 2025, describing interagency coordination, case data collection and services available for survivors; commissioners thanked the group and asked no substantive follow-up questions.
Alicia Rice, director of advocacy at the Assault Resource Center (SARC), presented the Washington County Sexual/Assault Response Team (SART) biennial report at the Commissioners Court meeting on March 17, 2026.
"My name is Alicia Rice. I am the director of advocacy at the Assault Resource Center or SARC," Rice said, introducing the report the agency prepares as facilitator for multidisciplinary SARTs across seven Brazos Valley counties. The document covers attendance, protocols and case data from October 2023 through September 2025 and outlines the partners involved, including law enforcement, the district attorney’s office, forensic nursing and mental-health providers.
Rice told the court the Washington County SART meets quarterly to review cases, share information and coordinate a trauma-informed response to survivors going through the criminal justice process. "This interagency cooperation promotes an efficient and trauma-informed response to these crimes," she said, and added that SARC provides free and confidential counseling, advocacy and outreach.
Commissioners expressed appreciation for the work. One commissioner said, "I just wanna thank you so much for what you guys do. It's a definitely, a tough situation when people get put in those situations." Rice confirmed SARC's availability to residents of Washington County and offered to answer questions about the report.
The presentation was informational; commissioners did not take formal action on the report during the meeting. Rice thanked partners and closed by offering continued assistance to the county and residents.
