Work session prioritizes Friendship Road repairs, cemetery bylaw review and P&Z changes

The commission proposed moving the Feb. 24 work session to an evening meeting (6 p.m.) and scheduling public hearings beforehand.
Planning & Zoning membership and appointments: Planning & Zoning recommended changing from a seven‑member to a five‑member board; the commission also placed several reappointments on the Feb. 4 agenda (Randy Register, Teresa Smith, Willie Brown). The board added a Public Safety Director appointment to the upcoming agenda.
Department updates and staffing: Department heads reported operational matters: recreation programming and staffing needs; public works reported water‑well repairs, heater replacements and hydrant work; animal control noted a rise in stray dogs. The county promoted two public‑works employees (Toby to mechanic, Wes to foreman). The manager said staff will prepare public information about HB581 and a likely sales tax opt‑in special election later in the year.
The work session entered executive session at 10:12 a.m. and reconvened at 10:55 a.m.; the session adjourned at 10:58 a.m.
