Armstrong County commissioners unanimously approve proclamations, two resolutions and routine financial actions

The board adopted four proclamations for April 2026: Proclamation 2026-07 declaring Sexual Assault Awareness Month; Proclamation 2026-08 designating Child Abuse Prevention Month; Proclamation 2026-09 recognizing National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week (April 12–18, 2026); and Proclamation 2026-10 declaring Fair Housing Month. Each proclamation was read aloud (by Commissioners Fabian, Shea or Strate) and adopted by unanimous vote.
The board also adopted Resolution 2026-11, which designates a Fair Housing Officer, and Resolution 2026-12, a Marcellus Legacy allocation directing funds to Cadogan Field and Stream. Both resolutions were approved unanimously on motions by Commissioner Shea and seconded by Commissioner Fabian.
Acting on a recommendation from Jail Warden Jessica Hicks, the board acknowledged an agreement between Armstrong County and Hose Company No. 6 Kittanning; that acknowledgment was approved by unanimous motion. During announcements, Commissioner Fabian said courthouse lights will be blue in April to mark Sexual Assault Awareness and Child Abuse Prevention months; Administrator Paula McClure added that flags have been placed at the base of the courthouse to represent each substantiated child abuse case (no count was provided in the record).
