Murray County approves Red Rock Rural Water storage permit; project to add service around Lake Sarah

The Murray County Board on April 7 approved Conditional Use Permit #1437 for Red Rock Rural Water to construct and operate ground-storage reservoir facilities in Mason Township.
Dominic Jones, manager for Red Rock Rural Water, reported the project will be built in phases: Phase I will provide services to roughly 67 new members around Lake Sarah and Pommier Lane and is ready to start construction; Phase II (a mainline phase) is expected to go out to bid mid-summer pending pipe prices; Phase III includes design revisions for a water treatment plant and additional lakeshore development; Phase IV covers service connections. Jones said Red Rock Rural Water is willing to grant emergency use of the reservoir to area fire departments when their personnel are onsite during usage.
The Planning Commission had recommended four special conditions; the board approved the permit with those conditions. The board also required submission of minutes from a Pre-Construction Meeting that the applicant had already conducted and provided to the Planning Commission for review.
No formal vote tally by individual commissioner was recorded in the minutes; minutes show the motion was moved and seconded and recorded as passed.
