Fayette County awards $125,894 camera maintenance contract; board approves contingency transfer

Fayette County voted 5-0 on Sept. 11 to award Contract #2532-P to A3 Communications, Inc., in a not-to-exceed amount of $125,894 to provide maintenance and support for the county's network of surveillance cameras. The Board also approved a transfer of $100,894 from the General Fund Project Contingency to Capital Improvement Project 37270483-541210-257AC to cover the cost.
Chief Marshall Lem Miller said the county's system — installed and expanded since 2015 — now includes 255 cameras at 15 locations, and that external cameras typically have a six- to eight-year lifespan. Miller described the contract as including a maintenance agreement for vendor visits and system assessments; materials and parts costs for replacements are not included in the base maintenance contract.
During discussion Commissioner Eric K. Maxwell noted the purchasing bid evaluation score sheet was not included in the meeting backup. County Administrator Steve Rapson said the score sheet had been completed but was mistakenly omitted and would be provided to the Board. Rapson also characterized the item as a one-year $75,894 contract in the minutes even though the motion and backup show a not-to-exceed amount of $125,894; the minutes do not reconcile the apparent discrepancy.
Vice Chairman Edward Gibbons moved to approve the contract award and transfer; Commissioner Charles W. Oddo seconded and the motion passed 5-0.
