Danbury committee recommends $3M bond, approves water and sewer rate changes and backs Neighborhood Assistance Act applications

Danbury’s Committee of the Whole on April 22 recommended that the full City Council approve a $3 million capital appropriation, adopt adjustments to sewer and water rates effective July 1, 2026, and authorize agencies to apply for Neighborhood Assistance Act tax credits, voting unanimously on each measure.

The meeting, chaired by Peter Bizaid, was procedural and brief: each item was moved, seconded and carried without discussion. Councilman Mike Flanagan moved the first item, saying, “I move to recommend the city council the adoption of the ordinance for $3,000,000 of public improvements and the issuance of $3,000,000 in bonds of the city to meet said appropriation and pending the issuance thereof, making of temporary borrowing for such purposes.” That motion was seconded and approved by all members present.
