Chartiers Valley School Board elects Dr. Darren Mariano president, names Sandy Zeleznik vice president and reappoints district solicitor

The Chartiers Valley School Board on Dec. 6, 2022, during its reorganization meeting in the Intermediate School Auditorium, elected Dr. Darren Mariano as Board President and named Mrs. Sandy Zeleznik Vice President, and unanimously approved Donald J. Palmer as the district solicitor.
Dr. Darren Mariano was nominated for president by Mr. Jeff Choura; with no other nominations the floor was closed and Dr. Mariano "was declared unanimously to elect" as Board President. Dr. Mariano then opened nominations for vice-president and nominated Mrs. Sandy Zeleznik; Mr. Jeff Choura seconded. The board declared Mrs. Zeleznik unanimously elected Vice-President.
Board Secretary Kim Borza read the list of Board members for the record. The minutes record eight members present and one absent (Mr. Robert Kearney). After officer elections, the board moved to approve Donald J. Palmer as Solicitor for the Chartiers Valley School District under the terms set out in an engagement letter dated Aug. 23, 2012, which the minutes note the board had approved on Aug. 28, 2012. The motion to approve the solicitor was moved by Mr. Jeff Choura and seconded by Mr. Mitchell Montani and passed by unanimous voice vote.
A motion to adjourn made by Mrs. Sandy Zeleznik and seconded by Mr. Jeff Choura carried by voice vote and the meeting adjourned at 6:42 p.m. The minutes were signed "Respectfully submitted" by Kim Borza, Board Secretary.
The minutes also include a separate roll-call table headed "Board Member Roll Call Votes 2023 President & Vice President" (Dec. 6, 2023) that lists members and 'Yes' votes; that heading appears to be a separate record or a dating inconsistency in the materials provided.
