Putnam County committee moves to pre-file budget amendment to cover dispatcher overtime amid staffing shortages

The Putnam County Personnel Committee voted Nov. 12 to pre-file a budget amendment to cover dispatcher overtime after officials reported staffing shortages in the Bureau of Emergency Services.
Acting Commissioner Ralph Falloon said the bureau is short four dispatchers and has created a trainee classification to allow hiring candidates who do not yet meet full qualifications. He said three previous employees returned to the center and one trainee is completing training, but overtime is still necessary.
Chairman Jonke moved to pre-file the necessary budget amendment to cover dispatcher overtime; Legislator Birmingham seconded and the motion passed.
