Rock Valley council approves pay requests, Park Improvement changes and equipment purchases for city projects

At the May 22 meeting the council approved pay request #3 for the Summit Drive paving project (motion by Van't Hul, second by De Kam) and pay request #3 for the Valley Vue project (motion by Koldenhoven, second by De Kam). On the same date, the council approved change order #3 for the Park Improvement project (motion by Faber, second by De Kam).
At the May 8 meeting the council approved a quote for a rotating warning siren for the east side of town. Later in May the council approved pay request #4 for the Park Improvement project and accepted a quote to construct three open shelter pads; the council granted a 10-day extension on the park project payment schedule, and the expense will be paid from the hotel/motel tax fund.
Recreation staff reported the pool office and maintenance work progressing and the council approved placing sod at the swimming pool from the lowest qualified bidder. The recreation department also received approval to purchase a Ventrac unit for an amount not to exceed $22,000, plus a groomer and bucket.
Why it matters: The approved pay requests and equipment purchases advance completion and operations for public-works, parks and recreation assets used by residents. The hotel/motel tax fund was designated to cover park shelter pads, tying tourism-related revenue to park amenities.
