Goodwill—areerLink staff describe after-school "Hub" for Altoona students

Brad Burger, president and CEO of Goodwill of the Southern Alleghenies, and Tiffany, a Goodwill CareerLink staff member, told the Altoona Area School District board about "The Hub," an after-school career club now based in the library mezzanine that offers workforce-development workshops, resume help, employer and college presentations, and youth-ambassador roles for job-fair work.
"My name is Brad Burger. I serve as president and CEO of Goodwill of the Southern Alleghenies," he told the board, describing the partnership: the CareerLink has collocated at the district library since 2019 and works with school staff to provide programming. Tiffany described program activities: "It's called the Hub. It is an after school kind of career club. We talk about workforce development, workshops, writing resumes, how to be the best that you can be." She said the group meets weekly, that attendance has expanded to Bellwood, and that postsecondary institutions and local employers have participated in sessions.
Board members asked whether the program works with the Greater Altoona Career and Technology Center; presenters confirmed that partnership and said they are coordinating field trips and job fairs. The presenters invited questions and said they welcome continued collaboration with district staff.
The presentation was made during the citizens ddress portion of the meeting; it was informational and no board action followed specific to the program at this session.
