County officials warn diversion of state funds could affect local transportation projects

During the March 10, 2026 work session, County Administrator Danny Jordan said Jackson County lobbyist Cindy Robert provided a draft report on the 2026 state legislative session and that she will supply updated material over the weekend for distribution to the commissioners.
Jordan told the board that the state has temporarily diverted Connect Oregon and Safe Schools funds, and he said that diversion could affect future county capital projects. He also reported that a courthouse bill passed at the Legislature but that any funding for local courthouse projects would likely not be available until the 2027 legislative session. County Counsel Joel Benton provided an update on a bill related to recreational liability. Commissioner Colleen Roberts summarized bills discussed at the National Association of Counties Public Lands Policy Steering Committee meeting.
