The council on Sept. 8 accepted a $20,000 cash donation from Pioneer Bank, facilitated with support from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines, to be applied toward Phase 2 construction at Gorman Park. City staff said the donation complies with the city's donation policy and that the council’s action allows for a recognition photo and formal acceptance.
Separately, staff presented a request from the Saint Peter Ambassadors asking for city assistance for Oktoberfest, scheduled Sept. 25–27 at the fairgrounds (the event will not include a street parade this year). The city will provide picnic tables, some light standards and the usual assistance contingent on required insurance. Council approved both resolutions by roll call.
Staff encouraged other donors to contact the city if they wish to be publicly recognized and said a resolution is on packet page 39 for the donation and page 42 for the event assistance.
