Marshall County agrees to split extra jail wiring cost with architect; jail to begin housing inmates

Jail Administrator Mark Ellerbusch told the Marshall County Board on April 21 that an extra wiring expense for a garage pressure washer in the ongoing jail remodel had been incurred. Ellerbusch, Maintenance Supervisor Rodger Haugtvedt and Jake Wollensak from Wold Architects (joining by Zoom) agreed to split the additional wiring cost between the county and Wold.
Ellerbusch said officer training on the new equipment will begin next week and that the jail will begin housing inmates following completion of training and the remaining remodel tasks. The board recorded the agreement to split expenses; no separate formal resolution number for the split was recorded in the minutes.
Why it matters: The wiring work and the agreed cost-sharing address a construction overrun and remove an operational barrier to returning the facility to service for inmate housing.
What’s next: Training will commence next week; the county and Wold will execute the agreed split of the extra wiring expense and proceed with placement of inmates as operations allow.
