Chartiers Valley board approves education agreements, student handbook, athletics travel and Policy 325 (second reading)
Summary
The board unanimously approved a slate of education and personnel items Aug. 12, including Title I services, agreements for special education and gifted program support, tuition contracts, the Middle School student handbook, athletics travel requests and the second reading of Policy 325 (Employee Dress and Grooming).
At its Aug. 12 workshop meeting, the Chartiers Valley Board of School Directors approved a series of education, personnel and policy items by voice vote.
The board approved the Title I Services Addendum for July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026 and a 2025–2026 agreement with Keystone Oaks Project Succeed. It also approved a consulting agreement with Sandra Owens to support the transition and setup of the district’s gifted-education program and the 2025–2026 tuition contracts with The Education Center at Watson Institute. The board approved the Middle School Student Handbook for 2025–2026.
Athletics and activities items cleared the agenda in a single block of motions: travel requests for three Dance Troupe trips, the Preston County High School cross country invitational and the Smithville High School boys basketball tournament all passed by voice vote.
The Human Resources report for Aug. 12, 2025, was approved. The board conducted the second reading and approved an update to Policy 325, Employee Dress and Grooming. All motions in these sections were recorded as passing unanimously in the meeting minutes.
Administrators noted curriculum and instruction updates for the upcoming school year and technology and cybersecurity initiatives in the announcements portion of the meeting. No public comments were made on agenda or non-agenda items.
The board announced its next meeting for Aug. 26, 2025 and adjourned at 7:47 p.m.
