Detroit Lakes council approves annexation, plats, dock purchase and multiple infrastructure resolutions

At its regular meeting, the Detroit Lakes City Council approved a bundle of land‑use, planning and infrastructure actions that will affect development, public works projects and municipal utilities.

Annexation and plats: The council adopted a joint resolution with Lakeview Township to complete an orderly annexation of the Wendell property; the agreement includes a four‑year reimbursement to the township for part of the property tax revenue and was described as negotiated with the township and the landowner. The council also gave preliminary and final plat approval to Bronlott Estates (two‑lot residential plat including the annexed property) and adopted a final plat for Marty's Acres (a four‑lot commercial plat along US Highway 10 West). Staff noted the Bronlott approval will not take effect until the annexation is finalized.
