The Medford Area Public School District Board of Education held its organizational meeting April 22, electing Dave Fleegel president and selecting Don Everhard as vice president after a close ballot.
President Dave Fleegel called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. and read the required open-meetings statement. Clerk Jodi Nuernberger reported the spring election results and the board proceeded with officer nominations and votes. Board members unanimously re-elected Fleegel as president; in the vice-president balloting Don Everhard received five votes to John Zuleger’s four and was named vice president. Jodi Nuernberger was approved as clerk and Brian Hallgren as treasurer by unanimous ballots.
The board also completed routine organizational business. Members approved a list of official depositories (Abby Bank, Nicolet, Mid America, Forward and Associated Bank) and designated the Star News as the district’s official newspaper. The board appointed Jodi Nuernberger as the WASB delegate and John Zuleger as the alternate. Dave Fleegel will serve as the district’s CESA representative with Don Everhard as the alternate.
Why it matters: Organizational actions set the governance and administrative contacts for the coming year, including bank signatories, official notices and association representation. The 5–4 vice-president result signals a narrowly divided board on internal leadership preferences.
The board adjourned at 8:10 p.m.
